1963 MGB FIA Race Car

We purchased an original 1963 MGB Roadster in 2018, which is currently being completely rebuilt as a period FIA race car.

The car continued to sit in our workshop untouched after we first bought it, due to other work commitments, until March 2020 when the UK went into lockdown. As most of our other work came to a standstill, we utilised our time in lockdown by making a start on restoring the FIA car. We attached it to our original Abingdon MG factory jig, and proceeded to replace and weld new sills, floors, castle rails, outriggers, rear wings, and a roll cage. In addition, we replaced the doors and front wings.

The car was sent to a body shop to be painted at the end of 2020, in Tartan Red to match the MGB GT V8 Race Car (with the intention of forming a race team!).

Since the car has been returned to us, we have slowly started to build the B series engine. As well as adding wheels & tyres.

As we are working on this car in between our customer's work, it has been slow progress since 2021. The outside of the car is now fully assembled, and we are hoping to get round to finishing the engine & interior soon!

The photo shows the car in its current condition.
