1960 Austin Healey 3000

Prior to founding the business, Brent had restored and worked on numerous cars over the years, including fully rebuilding a 1960 Austin Healey 3000.

Unusually, Brent carefully modified the car to take a Jaguar E-type 3.8 engine mated to a Jaguar S-type overdrive gearbox. He did so whilst still keeping the original Austin Healey appearance (which earned him much accolade and awards from fellow Austin Healey owners!). In addition to the new engine and gearbox, Brent also hand made and welded to the car early Cobra wheel arches. The car was used by Brent for many years before being sold in the late 1980’s.

In 2017, Oliver found that the car had been entered into a classic car auction and travelled to the auction site to view it. Surprisingly, the car had been relatively unchanged over the years whilst still being used extensively throughout Europe.

At the auction, Oliver was introduced to an interested party who later won the car. The new owner asked Oliver if he could collect the car and take it back to our workshop to carry out some recommissioning work before delivering it back to their house.

The photo’s show the original car with Brent in the 1980’s, and a picture taken in 2018 when the car was in our workshop (almost 30 years later!).

Sadly, Brent passed away in 2022. However, Oliver remains in contact with the owner of the car and carries out regular repair & maintenance on the vehicle. In 2023, we rebuilt the engine, fitted a new clutch, and rebuilt the overdrive.
